Ductile Iron Pipes

Ductile iron pipes with socket, spigot and plain ends and are made in accordance with IS 8329 (Class K7 & K9). Ductile iron is known for its long service life. Ductile iron is corrosion resistant and highly durable which makes it the preferred choice for pipeline networks all over the world. Ductile iron pipes have a internal lining of cement mortar and an external coating of Zinc & Bitumen. Ductile iron is nearly identical to grey cast iron in chemical composition. It also contains far more silicon, carbon and other elements than steel. The resistance of Ductile iron to corrosion is also similar to that of Grey Iron.

Ductile iron pipe, a product of advanced metallurgy, offers unique properties for conveying water under pressure and for other piping uses. It combines the physical strength of mild steel with the long life of grey cast iron.

Ductile Iron Pipes have higher tensile strength, yield strength, ductility and impact resistance which are the reasons why the use of Ductile Iron Pipes has grown up at a rapid rate over the last 50 years or so. In addition to the benefits of long life, corrosion resistance, high structural strength, and tight joints, ductile iron is also readily machinable, an important requirement in any pipe that must be drilled, tapped, or cut.

Ductile Iron is an improved variety of Cast Iron invented in the mid 1900's. It is also known as Spheroidal Graphite Iron or Nodular Cast Iron. Centrifugally cast Ductile Iron pipes are one of the most preferred materials for water supply and sewerage applications across the world due to its host of advantages. Pipes made from Ductile Cast Iron provide substantial benefits in terms of pressure bearing ability, impact resistance and capacity to sustain external static/ dynamic loading.
